Report guideline

A report is to be completed and submitted in PDF format softcopy to DYA one week after the date that you internship is scheduled to end. Here are some guidelines for preparing an internship report:

  • The report must be typed on A4 size paper, with font size of 12 in Times New Roman, Arial or Calibri.

  • Margins should be standard, and the length of a report should be ap- proximately between 3,000 and 10,000 words (excluding references and appendices, if any).

  • The report should be written in sections incorporating the following:

    • Introduction: Outline of the internship programme.

    • Host organisation/company description: Background, objectives, working operations, and roles.

    • Nature and scope of work: Objectives of the tasks assigned during internship

    • Methodology: Equipments, techniques, methods of data collection, and the use of analytical methods/ techniques in data analyses.

    • The Internship experience: Reasons for choice of internship, results on completion of projects, acquisition of new skills, and application of theoretical knowledge in a professional context.

    • Evaluation of the internship experience: Value of the internship, contribution towards future career, and potential suggestions and innovative ideas for future improvement.

    • Summary and concluding remarks: Relevance and usefulness of the programme to the interns and the host organisations.

    • References: List of books and documents used.

    • Appendices: Subsidiary documents

Note that the above are simply guidelines. Your report will be assessed based on its content, presentation & format, conclusions & reflection of internship experience, and also evidence of workplace knowledge.
